I'm having problems with the starter in my 1962 356B coupe. I live in Clearwater and have taken my car to Eibell for repairs. I would like to do this job myself because of the $ I spend every time I take it to the shop. Is removing the starter something that my husband and I should attempt? I was looking for the starter this morning and couldn't find it. My husband says he knows where it is and wants to try getting it out. I have found some articles about starter removal on the 356 Registry web site.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this subject?
Thank you, Candy

Candy, we met at the Fantasy of Flight a year ago. If you are still having problems with your sarter, you can email me (ovh@att.net) and describe the symtoms of the problem. I may be able to help. Larry

I have chased a similar starting problem for ~6 months. Final good fix was to replace the bushing in the transaxle--my ~50 yr old starter was fine. Now she starts real good. Removing the starter is a BFJ so I had it done by local Porsche race shop for ~$100
